Concrete Yard Calculator

Convert concrete measurements into cubic yards.

How It Works

Cubic yards = Length × Width × (Thickness ÷ 12) ÷ 27.

Example

A 20 ft × 30 ft slab at 4 in thick: 20 × 30 × (4 ÷ 12) = 200 ft³ ÷ 27 = 7.41 cubic yards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why convert to cubic yards?

Ready-mix concrete is always ordered in cubic yards, so this is the number you give the supplier.

How many square feet does a yard cover?

One cubic yard covers 81 sq ft at 4 in thick, 108 sq ft at 3 in, or 54 sq ft at 6 in.

Should I add waste here too?

This calculator gives the exact volume. Add 5–10% yourself when ordering.
