Brick Calculator

Estimate the number of bricks needed for a wall.

How It Works

Brick face = (7.625 + joint) × (2.25 + joint) ÷ 144. Bricks = ceil(Area ÷ Brick face).

Example

A 20 ft × 8 ft wall with 3/8 in joints needs about 1,098 bricks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many bricks per square foot?

About 6.75–7 modular bricks per sq ft with standard 3/8 in joints.

Why does joint thickness matter?

Thicker joints take up more space, so fewer bricks are needed per square foot.

Should I add a waste factor?

Yes, 5–10% for cuts at corners and openings, plus chipped bricks.
